IMRA welcomes end of CAFTA negotiations
The International Mass Retail Association, an alliance of retailers and their product and service suppliers, has welcomed the conclusion of negotiations between the United States and the Central American nations of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua on a Central American Free Trade Agreement.
“The final agreement includes some key IMRA-supported provisions on textiles, apparel and footwear. However, more work remains to be done … to establish meaningful building blocks for comprehensive trade in the Western Hemisphere,” said Sandra Kennedy, president of the IMRA.
“We now encourage the U.S. … to quickly wrap up negotiations with Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, so they can also participate,” Kennedy said in a statement.
