Port of Tanjung Pelepas’ throughput up 8% in first half
The Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia said that its first half box volume rose 7.9 percent to 2.24 million TEUs and now serves 70 liner services each week.
“The increase in container throughput was partly due to the integration of Maersk and P&O Nedlloyd that has brought about new services at PTP and the continuous growth by Evergreen,” said En Harun Hj Johari, Port of Tanjung Pelepas’ chief executive officer.
The South East Asia port will later this month open berth 10 as part of phase 2 terminal expansion which will see its annual capacity rise to 8 million TEUs.
