ANTONOV EXPANDS CARGO PLANNING DIVISION
Antonov Airlines, along with its general sales agent Air Foyle HeavyLift, said last week it will expand its cargo planning division to accommodate growth in project forwarding.
The carrier said it made the expansion plans based on increasing demands in the outsize cargo market and growth in project forwarding.
Antonov said that so far this year, the AN124 plane has operated on commercial flights in more than 300 sectors, and the number of individual flights for the plane is around 1,000. Additionally, bookings for the AN225 have ranged from general cargo to single items weighing more than 200 tons.
“The unique capabilities of these aircraft have proved themselves to be popular with project forwarding customers, many of whom now plan their shipment sizes to fit the aircraft’s dimensions,” said Graham Peace, senior vice president of the Commercial section of Antonov.
