Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. and “K” Line Ship Management Co., Ltd. are scheduled to undergo name changes less than three months from now.
Two ship management subsidiaries of Japan’s “K” Line Group – Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. and “K” Line Ship Management Co., Ltd. – will undergo name changes less than three months from now, the parent company said Wednesday.
As of April 1, Taiyo Nippon Kisen will become “K” Line RoRo Bulk Ship Management Co., Ltd. and “K” Line Ship Management will be known as “K” Line Energy Ship Management Co., Ltd.
Taiyo Nippon Kisen, which has three offices in Japan, as well as eight overseas locations in seven countries, manages car carriers and dry bulk carriers.
“K” Line Ship Management, which has one domestic office, and five overseas offices in four countries, manages tankers, liquefied petroleum gas carriers and liquefied natural gas carriers.
The “K” Line Group gave no explanation as to why the name changes are taking place, but their start date happens to coincide with the official launch date of the Ocean Network Express, a joint venture company formed by “K” Line with Japan’s other “Big 3” shipping companies, MOL and NYK.
The ONE joint venture is integrating the companies’ container shipping businesses, including worldwide terminal operation businesses, excluding those in Japan.
