UPS adds LCL rail option from China to Europe

The shipping and logistics provider will offer a less-than-container-load service from Zhengzhou, China to Hamburg, Germany.

UPS has begun offering a less-than-container-load (LCL) rail solution from Zhengzhou, China to Hamburg, Germany.
UPS began offering a full container load (FCL) service from China to Europe in June 2014. The company offers FCL solutions from Chengdu, China to Lodz, Poland and from Zhengzhou to Hamburg.
The FCL and LCL solutions offered from China to Europe are a part of the UPS Preferred multimodal freight services portfolio, which is designed to reduce transit times and costs of shipping.
“Our UPS Preferred LCL service gives customers more transportation options to deliver on growing demand on one of the world’s largest and busiest trade lanes.” Steve Flowers, president of UPS Global Freight Forwarding, said in a statement. “Companies don’t have to choose between speed and cost and can realize both.”
