BNSF AND MANUGISTICS COOPERATE ON ON-LINE TRANSPORTATION MARKETPLACE
FreightWise, Inc., a subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. has entered into an alliance with Manugistics Group, Inc., the e-commerce information technology firm, to launch an on-line marketplace for buyers and sellers of transportation services.
FreightWise, Inc., a new e-commerce initiative of BNSF, plans to launch the electronic transportation marketplace on the web site http://www.freightwise.com in the second quarter.
Manugistics will provide its NetWORKS Transport(TM) transportation system to enable businesses and trading partners to share, view and execute decisions based on real-time information within the FreightWise service.
The FreightWise web site will automate transportation and logistics processes, reviewing and selecting the most effective and efficient transportation services across a virtual enterprise, Manugistics said.
