Cargo Connection providing logistics for Rexam plant

Cargo Connection Logistics Holding Inc. of Inwood, N.Y., said it has signed an agreement with Rexam PLC to provide “just in time” inventory and warehouse services for one of the London-based firm’s manufacturing plants in the Chicago area.

   U.K.-based Rexam is one of the world’s leading consumer packaging groups and the world’s leading manufacturer of beverage cans, and has annual sales in excess of $7.4 billion. It recently opened a manufacturing line in the Chicago suburb of Elk Grove Village where, it is producing a new resealable “CapCan” product.

   According to Scott Goodman, chief operating officer of Cargo Connection Logistics, the company should begin providing services to Rexam immediately.

   Cargo Connection provides the Elk Grove production plant with raw materials as needed and also provides distribution for finished merchandise.

   Goodman said the new business will occupy about 50 percent of the space that was available in Cargo Connection Logistics’ Chicago-area facility in Bensenville, Ill.
