NORTHWEST TO STOP HANDLING HAZARDOUS GOODS ON PASSENGER PLANES
Northwest Airlines said Monday that, effective Nov. 1,
it will no longer handle commercially tendered hazardous goods aboard its passenger
aircraft. The airline will continue to handle dangerous goods aboard its fleet of 747
freighters.
Dangerous goods include items such as oil-based paints; paint thinners;
insecticides and garden chemicals; batteries; motors not purged of fuel; toxic/poisonous
compounds, liquids and gases; bleach and acids; and flammable adhesives.
