FMC LAW JUDGE FINES NVO $50,000
Stallion Cargo Inc., a Miami-based non-vessel-operating common carrier, has been fined $50,000 by U.S. Federal Maritime Commission administrative law judge Norman D. Kline.
In an initial decision, Kline said a revocation of the NVO’s license and suspension of its tariff would be “too severe” in view of mitigating factors.
Stallion Cargo was cited for misdescribing cargoes tendered to two vessel operators on 15 occasions and for failing to charge its applicable tariff rates on 152 occasions at various times from 1998 to 2000.
The shipments were carried from Port Everglades, Fla. to Oranjestad, Aruba, Netherlands Antilles by SeaFreight Line Ltd. and by King Ocean Service de Venezuela. S.A.
Kline’s decision will become final unless the FMC reviews the ruling.
