New World Alliance reshuffles Pacific services
New World Alliance carriers APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL are reshuffling their joint transpacific services prior to the peak season.
As previously reported, they are also launching a second Asia/U.S. East Coast all-water loop and resuming their “PSV” Asia/U.S. West Coast peak-season service.
The alliance will reinstate the “PSV” (South China/Los Angeles Express) service with the eastbound sailing of the “APL Guatemala,” from Chiwan on May 31. For the first four weeks the “PSV” will have a port rotation of Los Angeles, Chiwan, Hong Kong, return to Los Angeles. On the fifth voyage, in late June, Kaohsiung will be added to the rotation of the service.
The alliance will also make adjustments to its U.S. West Coast services and to its “APX” service to the U.S. East Coast.
An eastbound call at Hong Kong on the “SAX” service will be ended. From May 25, the revised rotation of the “SAX” loop will be: Los Angeles, Oakland, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Laem Chabang, Singapore, and Los Angeles.
The westbound call at Kobe on the “PS2” service will be replaced by a westbound call at Busan, from July 2. The eastbound call at Kaohsiung on this service will also be stopped. The new “PS2” port rotation will be Los Angeles, Oakland, Dutch Harbor, Yokohama, Busan, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, and Los Angeles.
Port calls at Busan and Hakata on the “GCX” service will be replaced by a call at Xingang. From June 29, the new “GCX” port rotation will be: Los Angeles, Oakland, Guam, Naha, Xingang, Qingdao, Nagoya, Yokohama, and Los Angeles.
On the “PS3” service, the port rotation will be altered slightly. Vessels have called Ningbo prior to Shanghai. From June 7, Shanghai will be called prior to Ningbo. The revised “PS3” port rotation will be: Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Shanghai, Ningbo, Kobe, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.
Finally, the Asia/U.S. West Coast/U.S. East Coast/Europe service “APX” will stop calling at Nagoya eastbound, start calling at Busan, and add a westbound call at Los Angeles. The changes will take effect from the sailing of “MOL Innovation,” in Rotterdam on May 29 and in Los Angeles on June 24. The revised “APX” port rotation will be: Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Busan, Kobe, Tokyo, Manzanillo (Panama), Miami, Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk, New York, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Felixstowe, Le Havre, New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Manzanillo (Panama), Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo, Kobe, and Chiwan.
The New World Alliance will now operate 10 U.S. East and West coast transpacific services. Eight services will call the U.S. West Coast and two services, the “APX” and the “NYX,” will offer all-water service between Asia, Panama, and U.S. East Coast.
