Export compliance workshop set for Aug. 30

   The Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association (FCBF) has put together an Export Compliance Workshop for Wednesday, August 30 at the Miami Free Zone.

   The workshop will cover Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Commerce Control List (CCL) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN), export licensing, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), trade embargoes, Denied Parties List, penalty actions, and the nature of current civil and criminal investigations.

   The workshop is meant for freight forwarders, exporters, air and ocean carriers, warehouse companies, trucking companies, international trade consultants and attorneys.

   The moderator is Peter Quinter, a Customs and international trade attorney with the firm Becker & Poliakoff. Other participants include Neil Mooney from The Mooney Law Firm; Gordon Pomeroy, assistant special agent in charge, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), of the U.S. Department of Commerce in Miami; James Weir, group supervisor, Exodus Enforcement Group, special agent in charge, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Miami, and a representative from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in Miami.

   Registration starts at 9:45 a.m. and the workshop will run from 10 a.m. until noon. The cost is $50 for FCBF members and $70 for non-members.

   The Miami Free Zone is located at 2305 N.W. 107th Ave. in Miami. The workshop will be in Conference Room 2M-53.
