RICKMERS LINIE APPOINTS STEFFENS MANAGING DIRECTOR

   Rickmers Linie, the German multipurpose shipping line, has appointed Jan Steffens as its managing director.

   In a related development, current joint managing directors Herbert Steuber and Sean Gay have stepped down and will pursue other roles within the Rickmers group.

   From 1996 to 2002, Steffens held various management positions with Senator Lines in Bremen. He was most recently executive vice president of Senator in charge of operations and logistics. He held positions with Hapag-Lloyd in Hamburg from 1978 to 1988, including director of container services.

   Rickmers said that Steffens would focus on the introduction of the company’s fortnightly round-the-world multipurpose service.
