PANALPINA EXPANDS SEA/AIR SERVICE TO WEST AFRICA
Air Sea Broker, a subsidiary of Swiss forwarding group Panalpina, has expanded its sea/air freight service to and from West Africa for oil and energy companies.
The company has added a second feeder ship in West Africa, introduced new ports of call in Angola, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea and increased its capacity on services to Congo and Gabon.
The sea/air service operates via the group’s European airfreight hub in Luxembourg. From Luxembourg, weekly scheduled airfreight charters operated by affiliated company SwissGlobalCargo carry the cargo to the island of S'o Tom' off the West African coast. Cargo is then transferred in bond to the port and loaded onto two dedicated vessels controlled by Air Sea Broker. The sea services operate twice a week from S'o Tom' to West African ports.
Shipments are delivered direct to shore base operations or to offshore rigs and installations along the West African coast.
Panalpina said that its service is designed to meet “the extremely demanding airfreight delivery requirements of oil and energy companies operating along the coast of West Africa.”
