Maersk Sealand, Danish authorities start EU export refund trial

Maersk Sealand is participating with Danish Customs and the Directorate for food, fisheries and agribusiness in a trial for the online management of transport document information aimed at improving payment of export refunds from the European Union to European exporters. The project is approved by the European Commission.

As part of the trial project, Maersk Sealand customers will be offered the opportunity to grant the relevant Danish authorities access to select customer information at http://www.maersksealand.com, dispensing with the need to produce paper transport documents and other shipment details.

The project started Tuesday with an evaluation scheduled for Aug. 1, to decide on any adjustments, including expanding the geographical scope to remaining EU countries, and whether to continue on a permanent basis.
