U.S. quota pre-processing extended through 2006

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it has extended its electronic quota pre-processing program test, which was set to expire Dec. 31, until the end of 2006.

Quota pre-processing allows certain apparel entries subject to quota to be filed, reviewed for admissibility and have their quota priority and status determined by CBP prior to arrival of the carrier, similar to the method of preliminary review by which non-quota entries are processed. Importers can submit quota entries to CBP up to five days prior to vessel arrival or after the wheels are up on air shipments.
