Matson acquires TransAmerica Transportation Services
Matson Integrated Logistics, a subsidiary of Matson Navigation, has completed the asset purchase of TransAmerica Transportation Services, Inc., an intermodal marketing and truck brokerage company based in Akron, Ohio.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
TransAmerica Transportation Services moves over 50,000 shipments annually, generating revenues of about $45 million during the latest 12-month period. The company offers various brokerage services, including truckload, less-than-truckload, expedited services, and intermodal.
The acquired business will operate initially under the name TransAmerica Transportation Services LLC, but it will ultimately be renamed Matson Integrated Logistics.
The business will retain “virtually all of TransAmerica Transportation Services’ current management team,” Matson said.
Matson said the newly-acquired business shares Matson Integrated Logistics’ policy of providing customers with multimodal transportation services “that are not tied to any proprietary rail or truck network.” There is no preference to utilize company-owned assets, and there are no geographic service boundaries, it added.
TransAmerica Transportation Services will continue to be represented by its current roster of over 50 agents located throughout the U.S.
