SPIEGEL GROUP ENTERS VENTURE TO PROVIDE 3PL SERVICE

   Spiegel Group, the large specialty apparel and home furnishings retailer, has entered into a joint venture, Spiegel-Herms General Service LLC (SHGS), to provide third-partly logistics services.

   The venture is with Hermes General Service USA Inc., a subsidiary of Hermes General Service GmbH, part of Otto Versand.

   SHGS will provide a range of distribution and fulfillment services, returns processing and liquidation services, call center services and credit card services. In addition, the new venture can provide database management and marketing, e-channel management, catalog development and production and product sourcing.

   Spiegel, known for its retail, catalog and online ventures, said the venture “is negotiating with a number of clients from a variety of industries.

   SHGS has entered into a service provider alliance with Newgistics Inc., a business-to-business supply chain management company, to provide returns management, including physical points-of-presence for returns, integrated software and shipping, warehouse, disposition and liquidation services.
