Alaska Airlines orders 35 Boeing 737-800 airplanes
Boeing announced Wednesday orders of up to 130 of the 737-800 aircraft from two airlines.
Alaska Airlines has ordered 35 of the 737-800 airplanes worth an estimated $2.3 billion at list prices. The Seattle-based airline also holds options for an additional 15 airplanes, which if exercised, would increase the order value by $983 million. Alaska Airlines also took purchase rights for another 50 737-800 airplanes.
All the airplanes on firm order are schedules to be delivered to Alaska Airlines between 2006 and 2011.
At the same time, Boeing said Palma de Mallorca, Spain-based Air Europa has placed 18 firm orders plus options on an additional 12 of the 737-800 models. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
