Antwerp terminal orders 10 post-Panamax container cranes

   The MSC Home Terminal in Antwerp has ordered 10 “super-post-Panamax” ship-to-shore container gantry cranes from equipment manufacturer Kalmar.

   MSC Home Terminal is a joint venture between Mediterranean Shipping Co. and Hesse-Noord Natie NV, the latter being owned by PSA Corp. Ltd., of Singapore.

   Under the large order, the first of cranes will become operational in November of 2004, with delivery of the remaining nine at a rate of one every four weeks. All the cranes will reach 56 meters beyond the quay, capable of handling ships 20 containers wide.
