DANZAS CONSOLIDATES ITALIAN SUBSIDIARIES
Danzas Spa, the Basel, Switzerland-based multinational freight forwarder, has started the consolidation of two subsidiaries, AEI Italy and AEI Ocean, into a new organization, the Intercontinental Business Unit.
Founded in 1969, the AEI Group Italy employs nearly 200 people and manages more than 145,000 shipments per year. The combined companies will operate under the name Danzas AEI Intercontinental, with a work force of 500, handling nearly 400,000 shipments annually.
Danzas said the combined operation will make it the leading air freight forwarder in Italy, “strongly enhancing import operations from both the North American and Far Eastern markets.”
The integration will also affect the firm’s ocean freight business, with AEI adding traffic volumes, particularly on less than container load orders.
The integration is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2002, with the opening of new headquarters near Milan’s Linate Airport.
