FEFC to implement ISPS charge on Sept. 15
Liner carrier members of the Far East Freight Conference will impose an International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) charge in Europe, effective Sept. 15.
For containers moved to or from ports in the northern Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic and Mediterranean, shippers will be assessed an ISPS charge of 5 euro (about $6) per container.
Containers moved to and from the U.K. ports of Felixstowe, Thamesport, Tillbury and Southampton, where lines already recover the security charge from shippers and consignees, will be charged '1.50 (about $2.70) for ISPS cost recovery. Containers moved to or from all other U.K. ports within the FEFC will be assessed '3.50 (about $6.32).
