Towne Air Freight becomes Cargo 2000 associate member
South Bend, Ind.-based Towne Air Freight has become the first U.S. trucking company to join Cargo 2000 as an industry associate member.
Cargo 2000 is an interest group of the International Air Transport Association with 30 major airlines, freight forwarders and ground handling agents as members. The group's goal is to implement a new quality management system for the worldwide air cargo industry.
Towne Holdings, founded in 1963, is a privately held company with three freight services subsidiaries — Towne Air Freight offers trucking services to 37 U.S. facilities, as well as less-than-truckload transportation services in five Midwestern states.
'Road transport is a core element of the air cargo process so we are delighted that Towne Air Freight has made this commitment to support Cargo 2000,' said Ron Cesana, Cargo 2000 project director. 'It is important that all parties that play a role in the transportation chain participate in our quality improvement initiative.'
