FEDEX HOME DELIVERY EXPANDS REACH

FedEx Ground, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., said it will open 31 additional FedEx Home Delivery operations throughout the United States, expanding the service's geographic region to nearly 90 percent of the U.S. population.

This marks the third expansion in the last year for the residential delivery service that was introduced in March 2000. FedEx Ground accelerated the service's expansion plan in June 2000 to achieve full U.S. coverage by September — more than a year ahead of the original schedule. In the last six months FedEx Home Delivery has seen its number of customers double to more than 16,000.

Twenty-nine of the 31 new operations are being co-located with existing FedEx Ground facilities.

The service, aimed at catalogers and online retailers, offers standard features such as evening and weekend delivery.

For FedEx's most recent fiscal quarter, ended Nov. 30, FedEx Ground reported an 11-percent year-over-year increase in average daily packages, with FedEx Home Delivery contributing half that growth, the company said.
