PSAÆs throughput soars 19% in 2006 to 51 million TEUs
PSA International, the global port operator owned by the Singapore government-controlled Temasek Holdings, handled a record 51.3 million TEUs in 2006, up 18.6 percent from its previous best of 41.2 million TEUs achieved in 2005.
Container throughput at PSA's flagship Singapore terminals, rose 7.6 percent to 24 million TEUs, while its overseas terminals grew 30.2 percent over 2005 to 27.3 million TEUs.
'2006 was a good year for world trade flows and we are happy to report increased volumes in our port projects globally,' said Eddie Teh, PSA Group's chief executive officer.
