Hong Kong-based Dragonair said it carried 34,704 tons of freight in October, a 0.1 percent drop over the 34,739 tons carried in October 2004.

For the year to date, Dragonair has carried 313,005 tons, up 13.8 percent over the 275,057 tons recorded after the first ten months of 2004.

“Shipments to the U.S. continued to perform well ahead of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, when there is a lot of shopping activity, while shipments to Japan were below expectations,” said Stanley Hui, Dragonair’s chief executive officer.

“We also saw a rise in shipments of electronic goods from the mainland, and the Yangtze River Delta area in particular, to the major markets of Europe and the U.S. as retailers ramp up supplies for the busy Christmas sales period,” Hui added.
