GRAND ALLIANCE HAS “8-MILLION CONTAINER” CAPACITY
Hapag-Lloyd, a member of the Grand Alliance alongside OOCL, P&O
Nedlloyd, NYK and Malaysia International Shipping Corp., said that the joint fleet of the
alliance can transport "approximately eight million standard containers" a year.
The five carriers deploy some 280 containerships, representing over
630,000 container slots.
Hapag-Lloyd said that the Grand Alliance is "the front runner in
international shipping" as regards transport capacities, volume, ports of call and
frequency of sailings.
The Grand Alliance will soon launch an additional transpacific weekly
service, the China Korea Express service.
Malaysia International Shipping Corp. works as part of the global
alliance only in the Asia-Europe trade.
