DHL BUYS TWO B757s FROM ANSETT
DHL Worldwide Express has purchased two B757 freighters from Ansett
Worldwide Aviation Services for delivery in January and March.
DHL said it will add the new freighters to its Europe/Africa network. The two
new planes are part of a fleet expansion program announced by DHL that includes the
addition of forty-four B757s from Boeing Co’s Aviation Services conversion unit.
Ansett has been flying a B757 daily between the Mideast and Belgium under a
wet-lease contract for DHL since 1996. DHL is buying that plane and moving it into its
European network. The carrier has signed a wet-lease agreement with Ansett to replace that
plane with another B757 flying the same route.
