CSX LINES NAMES DONOVAN VP AND CIO

   CSX Lines, the domestic waterborne shipping subsidiary of CSX Corp., has named William Donovan vice president and chief information officer. He reports directly to Charles G. Raymond, president and chief executive officer.

   Raymond said Donovan's role with CSX Lines is one he filled with Sea-Land Service since 1992. 'Recently he has been working on IT transition issues associated with the CSX data center and network planning,' Raymond said.

   Donovan will also be responsible for training Rick Kessler to assume CIO functions in July 2002.

   Donovan joined Sea-Land in 1975, leaving the company to work for R.J. Reyonlds in 1981. He returned to Sea-Land in 1992 as vice president-information technology.

   Kessler joined Sea-land in 1996 after three years as product manager for Business Records Corp. He is director, operational applications, with CSX Lines. He will remain in Dallas and will gradually assume broader functions as CIO.
