The acquisition increases the domestic freight forwarder’s presence in the U.S. mainland-to-Alaska market.
Domestic freight forwarder AFF Global Logistics has acquired Alaskan Express.
Alaskan Express will be merged with Fife, Wash.-based AFF’s operations. Both companies have long served the U.S. mainland-to-Alaska freight transport market.
AFF is owned by The Resolute Fund II L.P., a private equity fund managed by The Jordan Co. and AFF’s management. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In addition to Alaska, AFF also provides domestic freight services to Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
The company has grown its nationwide operations in recent years through the addition of new services and acquisitions. In July 2017, AFF acquired Chicago-based warehouse and logistics firm Grand Worldwide Logistics and a year before that took over Kent, Wash.-based domestic forwarder Global Transportation Services. In 2015, AFF bought the operations of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Caribbean Shipping Services.
