Vancouver operator TSI orders three large quay cranes
TSI Terminal Systems Inc., operator of Vanterm and Deltaport terminals in the Canadian port of Vancouver, has ordered what it described as “three of the world’s biggest container cranes” from Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. Ltd.
The $24-million order is for quayside cranes of 65-ton lift capacity and 22-container-wide outreach.
“The order being placed with ZPMC is part of TSI’s projected $250 million expansion at Deltaport that will include a third berth,” said TSI president and chief executive officer Norman Stark.
TSI Terminal Systems Inc. is a Vancouver-based company owned by Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. of Hong Kong. TSI’s Vanterm and Deltaport terminals together handle about 85 percent of the container traffic of the port of Vancouver. Their total traffic for 2003 is expected to reach 1.24 million TEUs, up 9 percent compared with 2002.
