ANL expands east/west presence

Melbourne, Australia-based ANL Container Line has expanded the number of weekly east/west services it offers to 14 by taking slots on six services of parent company CMA CGM.

ANL now, or is about to, takes space on the following loops:

   * CMA CGM’s joint transpacific ANW1/Seattle Bridge service with China Shipping Container Lines. The service calls: Nansha; Hong Kong; Yantian; Shanghai; Ningbo; Busan; Seattle, Wash.; Vancouver, British Columbia; and back to Nansha. ANL markets the service as USW-3. Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. also takes slots on the loop.

   * The joint transatlantic Victory Bridge/EAG service of CMA CGM, China Shipping and Hatsu Marine which started in June. The port rotation is: Le Havre; Antwerp; Rotterdam; Bremerhaven; Charleston, S.C.; Miami; Veracruz and Altamira, Mexico; Houston; and back to Le Havre. ANL calls this service EUS-1.

   * The joint CMA CGM and China Shipping transatlantic Liberty Bridge/EAX which started March and calls: New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Liverpool and New York. ANL refers to this loop as EUS-2.

   * The U.S. East Coast/Indian Subcontinent INDAMEX service of CMA CGM, APL and Hapag-Lloyd. ANL calls this ISC-3. The INDAMEX calls at: New York; Norfolk; Charleston; Port Said, Egypt; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Nhava Sheva, India; Mundra, India; and back to New York.

   * CMA CGM’s standalone China-India-Middle East Express (CIMEX) service that started last month with five 2,500-TEU ships and a port rotation of: Ningbo; Shanghai; Chiwan; Port Kelang; Nhava Sheva; Jebel Ali, Dubai; Khor Fakkan, U.A.E.; Bandar Abbas, Iran; Port Kelang; Shanghai; and Ningbo. ANL markets the CIMEX as ISC-1.

   * ANL will have slots on the new Asia/Europe FAL 2/AEX 7 service of CMA CGM and China Shipping, due to start later this month. The new loop will use eight vessels of 9,400 to 9,600 TEUs and call Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Port Kelang, and back to Ningbo. ANL will call this EUR-2.

The Australian carrier has also renamed a number of its existing services. Including the new services, ANL said it now has an annual 450,000 slots capacity (on a round-trip basis) in the major east/west trades.

“ANL’s very successful entry into the east/west trades mid-2002 has been built on a foundation of customer service excellence in Asia and the growing recognition of this attribute in Europe, the USA and now with the India Sub-Continent coverage, allows it to accelerate exponentially our global strategic development,” said ANL Chief Executive Officer John Lines. “It is our intention to continue to build upon our reputation, and further expand our range of services.”
