Erickson new chairman of History of Containerization Foundation
Stanford A. Erickson, former vice president of Sea-Land Service, has been named chairman of the History of Containerization Foundation Inc., replacing Michael B. Berzon, who becomes vice chairman.
Erickson’s career also includes stints at the Association of American Railroads, the American Trucking Association as well as a number of shipping publications.
'With a successful salute to the 50th anniversary of containerization behind us, the HOC Foundation is working on potential exhibition sites so that an international collection of this piece of transportation history can be accomplished,” Berzon said. “With Stan Erickson’s broad background in transport and in journalism he is the right person to lead our foundation in that direction.”
At the same time, Alan Clifford, executive vice president of Mediterranean Shipping Co. (USA), has joined the HOC board. Other board members are Helen Delich Bentley, Ashley W. Craig, Alan Glass, John V. Keenan and Irena McLean, widow of Malcom McLean.
