Shipco starts Korea joint venture

Non-vessel-operating common carrier Shipco Transport has started a joint venture with its long-time partner and agent MTM Freight in South Korea.
Shipco Korea will take over all activities currently handled by MTM in Seoul, and will be staffed with the current MTM personnel already in place. “Existing MTM customers in Korea can expect ‘business as usual’ as the transition from MTM to Shipco will be seamless,” Shipco said.
“MTM Freight is highly respected in their market and bring along a broad knowledge of the NVOCC business,” said Klaus Jepsen, Shipco’s group chief executive officer, in a statement. “We believe that the synergies that already exist between our two companies will result in a force to be reckoned with when brought together under the banner of Shipco Transport.”
Shipco is a subsidiary of Scan-Group, an international shipping and transportation company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has more than 2,700 employees in own offices worldwide.
