IATA APPOINTS BISIGNANI DIRECTOR GENERAL, CEO

   The International Air Transportation Association Board of Governors

has unanimously approved the appointment of Giovanni Bisignani as its new director general and chief executive officer.

   Bisignani will join IATA on May 13 as    director general-designate, succeeding Pierre Jeanniot.

   Bisignani will officially take over the position following the IATA annual general meeting at Shanghai in June — subject to the approval of attendees at the meeting.

   For the past 15 months, Bisignani served as President and CEO of Opodo, an airline-owned leading online travel portal in Europe.
