NYK has signed a joint-venture agreement with Ports Development Company (PDC) to create the first exclusive roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) terminal in Saudi Arabia, the ocean carrier said in a statement.
The new terminal, dubbed KAP RORO Terminal, will be located at King Abdullah Port, a private port owned by PDC that is situated along the Red Sea coast 88 kilometers north of Jeddah.
NYK Group will provide capacity equal to 600,000 handling units each year.
The KAP RORO Terminal, which will be NYK Group’s first automotive logistics base in the Middle East, is scheduled to commence full operations by the third quarter of 2016.
