Rickmers names seventh multipurpose vessel
Rickmers-Linie, the German multipurpose and heavy-lift shipping company, has named the “Rickmers Jakarta,” the seventh of nine new vessels ordered by the company.
The vessel has already completed its first eastbound voyage within the company's round-the-world “pearl string” service.
The “Rickmers Jakarta” and its sisterships are equipped with adjustable tweendecks, a heavy-lift capacity of up to 640 tons and dehumidifying devices in all holds.
The ninth and last vessel of the series, the “Rickmers Genoa,” was delivered to Rickmers-Linie March 15, and will be phased into the Rickmers-Linie “pearl string” service in Hamburg after a positioning voyage around the end of April.
