BRITISH FORWARDER F.S. MACKENZIE ENTERS WEST EUROPEAN MARKET
F.S. Mackenzie, the British forwarder, announced that it is entering the western European market by launching an over-the-road weekly service between the U.K. and Italy.
Until now, F.S. Mackenzie has operated trucking services between the U.K. and Central/Eastern European markets, but not to and from western Europe.
Launched as a joint venture with MCS Jenkinson Overseas srl, the service will initially offer a single direct departure every Friday to Italy. The joint operation will use freight terminals in northern Italy at Milan and Genoa.
“We will be using this service… as a catalyst to develop other services between the U.K. and such markets as Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands in the future,” a spokesman for F.S. Mackenzie said.
The British freight forwarder also said that it will consider introducing intermodal rail services between the U.K. and Italy.
