Alaska Railroad Corp. posts record earnings
The Alaska Railroad Corp. posted record net income earnings of $15.4 million for 2004, up 6 percent on the previous record set in 2003.
Operating income in 2004 was $10.1 million, down from $12.1 million posted in 2003. Total revenues were $129.5 million, up 1 percent on 2003. Freight revenues were $86.5 million, up on the $85.2 million posted in 2003.
Alaska Railroad operates 525 route miles, providing both freight and passenger services. The railroad serves the cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks, the ports of Whittier, Seward, and Anchorage as well as Denali National Park and military installations. Vessel and rail barge connections are provided from Seattle, Wash., and Prince Rupert, British Columbia.
