Port of Houston offers early retirement

The Port of Houston Authority said its commissioners adopted a voluntary early retirement program for employees at a meeting this week.
Full-time, salaried port authority employees at least 55 years of age and with 15 years of service before the end of the year are eligible.
The Houston Chronicle also reported on Thursday that Executive Director Leonard Waterworth, who joined the agency earlier this year, has streamlined his staff so that four instead of nine employees report directly to him.
Last month, Jim Edmonds, chairman of the authority since 2000, announced he is retiring. – Chris Dupin
