EXPRESS CONTAINER SERVICE TO RE-START ASIA/MED LINK
Express Container Service, the small German liner shipping operator headed by former Hapag-Lloyd senior executive Werner Pinnow, said that it plans to resume its Asia/Mediterranean container service in December or January.
The one-service company had discontinued its operations in May after facing technical problems with its vessel provider and partner, ADX. The service had called at Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Salerno and Trieste.
Express Container Service said that it is discussing a new service in cooperation with another shipowner, and plans to complete the talks in October. The German company would not disclose the identity of its new shipowner partner, but said that it is neither Evergreen nor Lloyd Triestino. Evergreen and sister company Lloyd Triestino are both well established carriers on the Asia/northern Italy trade route.
