U.S. Lines sets up in-house agency
Transpacific new entrant U.S. Lines has formed an agency, U.S. Lines Agencies, Inc., responsible for back office and sales functions in North America.
Also based in Santa Ana, Calif., U.S. Lines Agencies will handle all tasks associated with sales, customer service, documentation, equipment control, claims, freight cashier and terminal management.
U.S. Lines Agencies has a global operating system that provides real-time information via the Web. Shippers using the system can access rates, trace their cargo, view sailing schedules, complete their bills of lading and book cargo, the company said.
The carrier’s former third-party agency was KNS Agencies (Kerr, Norton Strachan).
U.S. Lines operates a fortnightly service between Shekou, China; Hong Kong; and Long Beach, California. The carrier aims to upgrade its service to weekly in early February.
