The Columbia Group of Companies is opening a new intermodal chassis depot in Bayonne, N.J. today, with Trac Intermodal slated be the facility’s first customer.
The Columbia Group of Companies is opening a new intermodal chassis depot in Bayonne, N.J. today.
Situated on 12 acres of property, the new depot features a covered repair facility, significant storage capabilities, an express bob-tail exit lane, approximately 600 feet of queue space and EDI technology, Columbia Group said.
Chassis leasing company Trac Intermodal will be the first customer to join the depot.
The Columbia Group is comprised of three companies: Columbia Coastal Transport, LLC, which operates with a fleet of U.S.-flag container barges; Columbia Container Services, which is the equipment repair and storage arm of the business; and Columbia Intermodal, which is the trucking and chassis pool arm of the business.
Through Columbia Container Services and Columbia Intermodal, the Columbia Group already operates an off-dock empty container depot and chassis maintenance and repair depot in the Port of New York/New Jersey and a chassis pool and container repair operation in the Port of Boston.
