GRI Roundup: Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd announced general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to Europe, the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent effective April 1. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU; and $300 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
     • Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to Far East Asia, Guam, Oceania, the Pacific Ocean Islands and Southern Africa effective April 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU; and $200 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
     • China, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan to Australia effective April 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU; and $600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube dry containers.
     • North Europe to the United States effective April 1. Rates will increase by $240 per TEU; and $300 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube dry containers.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden, Yemen for all cargo. On March 1, rates will increase by $100 per TEU and on March 15, rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo. On March 1, rates will increase by $100 per TEU; on March 15, rates will increase by $100 per TEU; on April 1, rates will increase by $200 per TEU; and on April 15, rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • All Asian ports to Pakistan, West India and Sri Lanka ports for all cargo. On March 1, rates will increase by $50 per unit; on March 15, rates will increase by $50 per unit; on April 1, rates will increase by $100 per TEU; and on April 15, rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • The West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Far East and Japan for all cargo effective March 15. Rates will increase by $150 per unit. However, this increase will apply only for new business, while previous negotiated rates will apply until March 31.
     • Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to West Africa for all cargo effective April 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • The East Coast of India to West Africa for all cargo effective April 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • North Europe (Baltic, Scandinavian, UK/Eire, Continental, Atlantic Spanish and Portuguese ports) to the Caribbean, Central America, the North Coast of South America and the West Coast of South America effective April 1. This increase excludes destinations to the French West Indies, Trinidad, Suriname, Guyana, Leeward and the Winward trade. Rates will increase by 200 euros per TEU for dry and reefer; and 400 euros per FEU and 40-foot high cube dry and reefer.
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from:
     • North, South and Central China to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types effective March 15. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • East Asia to the United States and Canada for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers effective April 1. Rates will increase by $320 per TEU standard container; and $400 per FEU standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
     • Northeast Asia to Australia for all cargo and container types effective April 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU.
     • North Europe to the United States East Coast and Gulf Coast for all cargo and container types effective April 1. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
     • North Europe to Canada East Coast and X-Border for all cargo and container types effective April 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
     • North Europe to Mexico East Coast for all cargo and container types effective April 1. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU and $200 per FEU.
     • East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Arabian Gulf for all cargo and container types. On April 1, rates will increase by $200 per TEU; and on April 15, rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America and Panama for all cargo and container types effective April 1. Rates will increase by $700 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • The East Coast of South America to North Europe and the Mediterranean for all dry cargo effective April 5. Rates will increase by $75 per TEU standard container; and $100 per FEU standard container and 40-foot high cube container.
