‘K’ Line sets up cargo-handling joint venture in India

The Japanese liner carrier established a cargo-handling joint venture in Mumbai, India that will initially handle car carriers, but will eventually include other types of vessels.

   “K” Line has set up a cargo-handling joint venture in Mumbai, India that will initially handle car carriers, but will eventually include other types of vessels, the Japanese liner carrier said.
   The joint venture, called Nitto Baxi Private Ltd, includes Nitto Total Logistics Ltd., which is a “K” Line company, and partner J.M. Baxio & Co., which has operated in India since 1916.
   “K” Line said creating this logistics joint venture is part of its medium-term management plan. “We will move forward to develop logistics business in rapidly developing countries surrounding Asia,” the carrier said.
