AARONSON NEW ACI DIRECTOR
Robert J. Aaronson has been appointed director general of Airports Council International, effective April 2. Aaronson succeeds Jonathan Howe, whose term ended in December.
Aaronson is executive vice president-Americas at Lufthansa Consulting, and has more than 25 years’ experience in the airport business. In his career, he has had direct responsibility in the management of six major U.S. airports, including JFK International Airport, La Guardia Airport and Newark International Airport. In addition to holding a post in the Federal Aviation Administration, he was president and chief executive officer of the Air Transport Association of America from 1989-1992. He also served as executive vice president and general manager of Lockheed Air Terminal and operated his own consulting firm, Strategies for Airports Inc.
ACI also reported November cargo volumes, the most recent statistics available, dropped in five out of six of ACI’s statistical
Regions.
Volumes dropped 13 percent in North America, 9 percent in Europe and Africa, 7 percent in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 5 percent in the Asia/Pacific, but rose 0.5 percent in the Mideast.
