CALIFORNIA PROPOSES NON-TANK VESSEL FEE AND A HIGHER BARREL FEE
The State of California has proposed that non-tank vessel owners or operators pay a range of fees every two years for ships transiting state waters: $2,500, $1,500 or $500, depending on the oil-carrying capacity of their non-tank vessels.
California also proposed that an existing fee be raised from 4 to 5 cents on each barrel of crude oil or petroleum products entering California “over or through state marine waters.”
All written comments on these fees should sent by April 17 to the Department of Fish and Game, Office of Spill Prevention and Response, P.O. Box 944209, Sacramento, Calif., 94244-2090; Attention: Joy D. Lavin-Jones.
