FEDEX INTRODUCES SHENZHEN AIR EXPRESS SERVICE
Federal Express Corp. kicked off international air express service to
and from Shenzhen, China, Tuesday, and opened a dedicated express handling facility at
Shenzhen’s Huangtian International Airport.
FedEx will operate five weekly MD-11 and DC-10 flights to and from
Shenzhen, China’s largest export city, with an extensive high-tech
industry. The service connects with FedEx’s gateway at Anchorage, and with Asia Pacific
destinations via FedEx’s regional hub in Subic Bay,
Philippines.
In addition to the Shenzen service, FedEx is also expanding its service
to Beijing and Shanghai from four to five times a week.
The new Huangtian Airport terminal — the first of its kind in China,
according to FedEx — can process 1,500 packages per hour.
