New Jersey-based logistics software provider Aljex Software on Wednesday said it has released a new product for rail intermodal management.
The new solution, Vision Intermodal, operates within Aljex Vision-hosted software. Aljex provides hosted management applications for customs brokers, third-party logistics providers and carriers.
Vision Intermodal tracks each step in the door-to-door sequence of the rail intermodal process, with each step color-coded on the Aljex screen.
“Each leg of a trip is color-coded so a user can instantly see if there is a problem,” said Aljex Chief Executive Officer Tom Heine.
For example, Heine said, a red cell means nothing has happened yet; a yellow cell shows that it’s in process; and a green cell indicates that portion of the move is complete.
Aljex stressed that Vision Intermodal is EDI-centric, given that EDI (electronic data interchange) is the predominant logistics language of the railroads as well as many major shippers. – Eric Johnson
