TARGET LOGISTICS PLANS EXPANSION IN CHINA
Target Logistics Services, a Compton, Calif.-based freight forwarder, plans to open 20 offices in China before end of 2001.
“Target is going big time into China,” said Chris Coppersmith, president and chief executive officer of the company. “We believe China, already a growing trade partner with the U.S., will generate even greater export and import volume in the twenty-first century. Target wants to be a part of this growth.”
The company opened its eighth office in the country in Shenzen under the name Target International Freight Agency Co., with the head office in Beijing. Other offices are located in major cities, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tangshan and Tienjen.
Target offers air, ocean and inland transportation logistics services. “We now are creating a hub and spoke surface and air system within China which will link up our 20 offices as they come on line,” Coppersmith said.
