Rickmers-Linie names OceanExpress U.K. agent
German breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo shipping line Rickmers-Linie has appointed OceanExpress as its new agent for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Rickmers-Linie’s twice-monthly Europe/Far East/U.S. Gulf and East Coast/Europe Pearl String service does not make a scheduled call in the United Kingdom, but the Hamburg-based carrier said it will make direct calls in the U.K. subject to sufficient inducement.
OceanExpress is based in Maldon, Essex, but its Manchester office will be responsible for operational and sales, whereas the Middlesbrough office will act as a port agency and handle project sales.
“We will focus on U.K. and Irish cargo that will be shipped out on Rickmers’ vessels via Antwerp. The customer has the option of choosing whether to arrange the movement of the cargo to Antwerp himself. But we can arrange this for him with the cargo moving on a bill of lading that shows a U.K. loading port,” said John Gore, OceanExpress’ agency manager in Manchester.
